Sarah's Bio

Sarah Anne Sumpolec is the author of the teen fiction series, Becoming Beka (Moody Publishers). She graduated from the University of Mary Washington and holds both a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and elementary teaching certification. Her background in psychology allowed her to work both in an acute care inpatient setting and a long-term residential treatment center, both of which helped to provide her much insight and compassion towards those struggling to cope with a life that is not always kind or fair. She continually researches and speaks on the hot topics facing teens today like cutting, suicide and other belief systems. Sarah has been married to Jeff, a licensed professional counselor, for twelve years and together they have three daughters.

With three little girls of her own, Sarah is passionate about encouraging young women to be completely real with God, and follow Him passionately. Through her speaking and writing she hopes to inspire young women to become all that God intended them to be. Writing fiction happened by accident, but she finds that by telling stories she is able to affect girls deep inside, in a positive way. Sarah continues to write not only fiction, but as an alumnus of Act One: Writing for Hollywood she is also currently at work on her second screenplay, a teen comedy.

Sarah has been a guest on Janet Parshall’s America, The Tyra Banks Show and was featured on The 700 Club. Through her website (www.sarahannesumpolec.com), online magazine (www.girlsandgod.com) and joint blog (www.girlsgodgoodlife.blogspot.com) with other YA authors, she is able to actively communicate with her readers and encourage them.
